Watch the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards are this Sunday, September 22 at 8pm. With the season finale of the Newsroom now firmly behind us, my schedule is cleared to watch the broadcast live. It’s a great opportunity to mentally flag shows you probably should be watching and celebrate the recognition of your current favorites. I love it when the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences validates my taste in quality entertainment…..even if I’m still carrying a tiny grudge over a major miss not nominating The Mindy Project for at least a nod or two. I mean the writing is excellent & how do you not love Chris Messina? I digress…

As an additional treat for me, this Emmys is the most dance-friendly ever. The award for Outstanding Choreography will be presented for the first time ever during the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony. Even more exciting, there will be a big dance number created by the nominated choreographers.

And if you’re interested, you can catch the Primetime Creative Arts Emmys presentation on Saturday night, September 21 on FXX. These awards are mostly technical and/or focused on more behind-the-scenes crafts like hairstyling, makeup, music, sound editing and mixing, special visual effects, and more.

Here are a few of the big categories we’ll be watching on Sunday.
