Thanksgiving Day Football Schedule on Bright House Networks

I love Thanksgiving, so much food and so much football.

There are some really interesting games this week and I can’t wait to bathe in turkey and oyster stuffing. That’s right… oyster stuffing, it’s amazing. Let me know if you want the recipe.

Now on to some football and just as important fantasy football.

I sure hope you all listened last week when I said to pick up Danario Alexander and Marcel Reece, to go with Cecil Shorts and T.Y. Hilton from weeks prior. If you did, congratulations, as you won last week! I didn’t pick up any of these guys, because I play in a 14 team league and the guys I play with are complete maniacs and they were all gone. Now on to the games this Thursday, none of which are on our beloved NFL Network. In years past there have been some bad games, not this year! These games all have playoff implications, mostly for the 4-6 teams who will likely lose and be out of the playoffs. This year none of the Thanksgiving games are on NFL Network, but the good thing is we have all of them!

Houston Texans (9-1) vs Detroit Lions(4-6) ‎-12:30 PM (ET)‎ on CBS

The Lions are the second best 4-6 team you will see on Thursday and the Texans are coming off a huge emotional win last week. Andre Johnson basically dashed the hopes of my cousin Scott Bakula and Shiad Khan’s mustache by delivering victory for me in our game. The Texans are primed for a letdown this week because of the short week. The Lions are at home, I say the Lions will be inspired by the legend of Eric Hipple (As we all likely are) and will be victorious.

Washington Redskins (4-6) vs Cowboys (5-5) ‎-4:15 PM (ET)‎  on FOX

The best 4-6 team of the day is the Washington Redskins. RGIII is doing some amazing things picking apart defenses. Last week he threw 4 TDs. The Cowboys escaped with a win versus my 8 year old self’s Cleveland Browns. Tony Romo ran for his life but still won. This is a great rivalry I remember going back to the Joe Theisman vs. the orginal Tony Romo, Danny White. How many people remember Danny White, he was a QB and punter! I can only remember Tom Tupa doing that, but he wasn’t near the QB that White was. I like the Redskin’s in this one, RGIII is too dynamic and good.

Patriots (7-3) vs Jets (4-6)  ‎-8:20 PM (ET)‎ on NBC

The worst 4-6 team of the day, the Jets. I can’t believe this team won 4 games this year and should be heading to 4-7. The Pats are going to be missing Gronk, because Bill Belichek felt it was important to have the greatest TE since Tony Gonzalez, who still plays, so I guess it hasn’t been that long, blocking on a 35 pt win on an extra point. The Jets would be better off bringing the great Richard Todd out of retirement than starting Sanchize.

Pickups of the week:

Jalen Paramle (Jac-RB) 6% owned is the starting RB until MJD returns in Jax.

Ronnie Hillman (Den-RB) 6% owned is now the starting RB since Willis McGahee is out.

Beanie Wells (Ari-RB) 28% owned is again the starting running back in Arizona, and a Buckeye. Beat Michigan!

Julian Edelman (NE-WR) 4% owned will see extra looks with Gronk out. If Aaron Hernandez is available, you should find a new fantasy league to play in, that one isn’t good.

Who am I missing? What are you watching this Thanksgiving Day?

  1. I have a Daunte Culpepper rookie card, how much is it worth?

    Thanks,

    Blaine

    • The Upper Deck version can be purchased for .95 cents.

  2. I made what I’m hoping could be the pick up the year by getting Hillman a couple of weeks ago (after he had one decent game) when my RB’s were riddled with injury. I really need him to contribute to my playoff push, I’m only one game up in my division (12 team league). I’ve been playing the TE merry-go-round while Hernandez has been hurt too so if he comes back this week, my team could be in great shape.

Great Tom Tupa reference! He was really underrated as a holder. Wiki just told me that he scored the first ever 2pt conversion in NFL history in 1994, he scored 3 such conversions that year and earned the nickname “Two Point Tupa”. How does this not get him into the HOF???

At this point of the season, the waiver wire is depleted to a bunch of Mr. Irrelevants, outside of the guys you mention already. If you don’t have your team ready with a game plan for the next couple of weeks, pack it in!

  3. I grew up on Oyster dressing! I also passed the love of it to my family, while I enjoy my Thanksgiving Dinner, I will be most grateful for family, turkey and oyster dressing and football!
