Sweet Dreamzzz for Detroit Families in Need

Comfort and rest for a better tomorrow.  That is the motto of Sweet Dreamzzz, the Detroit-based charity that received a $10,000 12 Days of Giving donation from Bright House Networks on Tuesday, December 18.

Bright House Networks team member Leigh Byrd presents $10,000 to Sweet Dreamzzz to help families and children in need.

Inspired by a 1996 Detroit Free Press article about an inner-city boy living in a burned out house and sleeping under his coat, Kathleen Donnelly started Sweet Dreamzzz with the help of family and friends, gathering supplies to ensure a good night’s rest for the boy and his mother.  The organization is committed to improving the health, well-being and academic performance of at-risk children and their families by providing sleep education and bedtime essentials.

Bright House Networks’ 12 Days of Giving campaign was designed to support charitable organizations in its local communities that are focused on helping the military, homeless, hungry and children.  During the 12 days, which ran from December 1-12, Bright House Networks posted a different picture of an item in need on its Facebook page. The items ranged from razors for military personnel to baby formula and diapers for children.  For every person who shared the photo of the day, Bright House Networks committed to donate that same number of items to a charity in each of its local communities.  The charity with the most shares received an additional $10,000 donation on behalf of Bright House Networks and its giving customers.

Donated items to be given to children and families in the Detroit community.
