Bright House Networks employees in Indianapolis helped to make their community a little nicer in November by donating 1,050 pounds of sugar and spices to Second Helpings, a local non-profit that fights hunger in the area.
The 1,050 pounds of sugar and spices will be used to help bring flavor to the 3,300 meals that Second Helpings prepares daily and distributes to over 70 local social service agencies, including shelters, senior centers and after school programs. Last year, the Second Helpings Hunger Relief program produced 678,000 meals, and this year the organization is on track to create and deliver 800,000 meals.
“We all like a little variety in our food because eating the same thing ever day isn’t just dull; it’s also not nutritionally sound,” said Chef Liz Gimenez, director of hunger relief at Second Helpings in a prepared release. “We are grateful for all our donations, but donations of seasonings are a gift to help us make meals lively and flavorful.”
Bright House Networks will also host a pasta drive and contribute an additional $1000 to Second Helpings.
