On Saturday, April 14, the Kern Chapter Red Cross Real Heroes Dinner was held at the Bakersfield Jet Center. Once again, Bright House Networks sponsored the dinner, and this year we were privileged to present the Educator Hero award to Kevin Crosby.
Mr. Crosby is a veteran teacher of special education students at Independence High School. He was honored for his creation of the Solar Club at his school where students with autism serve as peer tutors to help students at other schools learn the fundamentals of solar energy.
In addition to the Educator Hero Award, Mr. Crosby is a recipient of the Bright House Networks Bright Futures Educator Grant for the Solar Club program.
