On the Road learning more about Henry B. Plant:  A former New Englander, Henry B. Plant moves to Florida before the Civil War. When peace returns, the Southern economy lies in ruins, but Plant sees an opportunity. He buys up the bankrupted railroads and abandoned steamships, building a major transportation hub on Florida’s west coast. A true visionary, Plant converts Tampa from a small town to a  vital shipping center.

  2. I was sooo excited to see this today! After you and the History Channel were here in 2004 and Tampa and Tampa Preservation Inc. won the Community Award presrvationists have continued working hard!

    I wish we had known you were in town even for just a minute. We could have taken you out to lunch and caught up on the amazing things you have accomplished in the last eight years. Little did any of us know what was ahead.

    I will also forward two publications I have been involved in for the Henry B. Plant Museum…as both a TPI and a Museum Society volunteer……for you to share or just add to your trunk of goodies. Keep up the good work and thank you for the exposure for the Henry B. Museum.
