Helping the Homeless in Bakersfield

Bright House Networks presented the Bakersfield Homeless Center with a check for $10,000 during a special event on Monday, December 17, recognizing the organization as the winner of its 12 Days of Giving campaign.

Bright House Networks employees visit the Bakersfield Homeless Center to present the $10,000 donation as a result of the 12 Days of Giving Campaign.

“We keep seeing more and more people needing help, so the struggle is meeting demand,” said Louis Gill, CEO of the Bakersfield Homeless Center during an interview with KGET TV, the local NBC affiliate in Bakersfield. “Ten thousand dollars is a lot of money. That’s a lot of people you can feed. It also could be a whole lot of diapers, or it could just simply mean we’re going to repair the roof.”

Bright House Networks also awarded donations to Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in its Bakersfield market as part of its holiday giving campaign.

Bright House Networks’ 12 Days of Giving campaign was designed to support charitable organizations in its local communities that are focused on helping the military, homeless, hungry and children.  During the 12 days, which ran from December 1-12, Bright House Networks posted a different picture of an item in need on its Facebook page. The items ranged from razors for military personnel to baby formula and diapers for children.  For every person who shared the photo of the day, Bright House Networks committed to donate that same number of items to a charity in each of its local communities.  The charity with the most shares received an additional $10,000 donation on behalf of Bright House Networks and its giving customers.
