We’ve seen the blog posts, the Facebook pages, the forum discussions, the tweets and the comments all made to show your deep appreciation for your favorite house guest and mine – the Digital Video Recorder (DVR).
Back in 2008, Jason Kanter describes his love for his DVR as a “special relationship.” If you have about four minutes, watch his YouTube video and see why he and others “heart” their DVRs.
So let’s take a trip down memory lane to the first time you and your DVR met…
Love at first sight, right?
Remember how pretty and shiny it looked and how it didn’t take long for it to completely change the way you view television?
You know you remember…
You also were completely amazed at how your favorite shows could now be recorded and kept on your DVR, not on VHS tapes like in the 80s and 90s. It all became about you and your new roomie — anytime and on your terms.
Well now our dear friend is changing for the better. It’s called Whole House DVR and he or she is kind of a big deal. Basically, you record your shows – up to 60 hours — in one room and have the option of viewing it in another room or rooms.
Awesome.
Some of you are already using Whole House DVR and know exactly what we’re talking about. If you have 30 seconds, we welcome you to share your thoughts below.
If you do not have Whole House DVR yet, just know that once you can watch what you’ve recorded in multiple rooms, you’ll quickly wonder how you ever lived without it.
To conclude, I’d like to take a moment and write a brief letter of thanks to my DVR…You may want to try this yourself based on all that your beloved house guest has given you.
Dearest DVR,
Since the day you moved into my house, you have brought nothing but my favorite shows and the convenience of watching them whenever I want. You really are my wonderful and selfless friend and don’t tell the others, my favorite roommate.
I want to thank you for being there when I need you time and time again. And, now, I look forward to getting to know you in other rooms of my home. Please stay as long as you’d like. In other words, may you never leave my home..ever.
From the bottom of my DVR-loving heart,
Your friend and biggest fan

Thanks fellow DVR fan!

Is one DVR cheaper, can you record more than 2 shows at a time. Some nights I record 2 on one DVR and 2 on the other one, that made me not that impressed with FIOS.

Hi Henry! Good questions. Currently, I only have one DVR and record two shows at a time regularly similar to you with your two DVRs.
