College Football Week 11: Veterans Day Weekend

This weekend is Veterans Day weekend, and across the country many college stadiums will be honoring active duty military and veterans to mark the occasion. On the field there will be a number of great games for veterans and their families to enjoy together.

Thursday, November 7: Featured Game
#3 Oregon at #5 Stanford – 9:00pm ESPN
One of the rare midweek matchups of Top Five teams happens this week. The Ducks come into this game looking to gain even more separation from the Cardinal for the lead in the PAC-12 North. But the home team will hope to repeat last year’s thrilling overtime win. It will be a gut check for the veteran leadership of both teams to see who wants it more.

Other notable games:
#10 Oklahoma at #6 Baylor – 7:30pm Fox Sports 1

Saturday, November 9:

Early Featured Game

#2 Florida State at Wake Forest – noon ABC
Bright House Networks fans from Seminole country hope to have a lot of chances to practice their war chants on Saturday afternoon. FSU has a commanding 24-6-1 all-time record against Wake Forest, and their confidence should be high after the big win over Miami last week. Wake Forest will definitely need to call in the cavalry if the home team wants to pull off the major upset.

Other notable early games:
#9 Auburn at Tennessee – noon ESPN
Iowa at Purdue – noon BTN

Saturday, November 9:
Mid-Afternoon Featured Game
Nebraska at Michigan – 3:30pm ABC
It’s Military Appreciation Day at the Big House, and Michigan will hope a win will let them claw their way back into the Top 25, and they’ll be looking for revenge for the loss to Nebraska last season. Both teams will hope to rally the troops to victory since each of these traditional powers find themselves out of the rankings late in the season.

Other notable afternoon games:
Mississippi State at #15 Texas A&M – 3:30pm CBS
BYU at #24 Wisconsin – 3:30pm ESPN
Kansas at #14 Oklahoma State – 4:00pm Fox Sports 1
#22 Arizona State at Utah – 4:00pm Pac-12 Network

Saturday, November 9:
Evening Featured Game
Houston at #21 UCF – 7:00pm ESPN2
The home team is also observing Military Appreciation Day at Bright House Networks Stadium this weekend, and the Knights will hope to continue climbing up the BCS rankings with another conference win. But the Cougars are bringing their speedy defense and talented offense into Orlando to try to pull off the upset. The home team does feature a secret weapon: Redshirt Senior Kelly Davison is a Marine veteran who served in Iraq between high school graduation and going to college.

Other notable evening games:
Virginia Tech at #11 Miami (FL) – 7:00pm ESPN
#23 Notre Dame at Pittsburgh – 8:00pm ABC
#13 LSU at #1 Alabama – 8:00pm CBS
#16 Fresno State at Wyoming – 10:15pm ESPN2

From our Bright House to yours, we salute all those who currently are or have served in the armed forces. And while you enjoy some great college football this weekend, please take time to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
