Celebrating Valentine’s Day

It’s Valentine’s Day. And that means you’re either swooning over cards, candy, pink and red swirly hearts (and the like) OR you’re bemoaning the commercialization of yet another pointless “holiday” – why do you need a special day to tell someone you love them? If you’re like me, you fall somewhere in the middle. I don’t feel compelled to make a big deal out of it, but at the same time can’t see anything wrong with in honoring a day that’s about celebrating love – all of the loves in your life! Which for me, includes TV shows and movies!

Tonight’s a great night to cuddle up on the couch to watch a favorite rom-com, with many playing now in SD and HD On Demand in our Valentine’s Day category, including:

• Celeste & Jesse Forever • To Rome With Love • When In Rome • (500) Days of Summer • 27 Dresses • How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days • HITCH • City of Angels • Valentine’s Day • You’ve Got Mail • Notting Hill • It’s Complicated

Because we also celebrate Black History Month in February, there is also an On Demand category that features black directors and some of those films make great Valentine’s Day picks, like Save the Last Dance or Love & Basketball. Or, if your plans include little ones, there’s Brave, Frankenweenie and The Secret of the Wings, all now playing On Demand for your Valentine’s festivities.

If TV is more your thing, there are lots of ways to celebrate love on the small screen! You can watch the new episode of The Vampire Diaries for your teen paranormal romance fix.  Are Jim and Pam your favorite TV relationship? The new episode of The Office premieres tonight, and there’s also plenty of reruns in syndication. Or, for something a little more complicated, catch up with this season of GIRLS on HBO on Demand or HBO GO and watch Hannah and company navigate what love and courtship mean to a modern twentysomething. And if love means nothing to you without music, there’s always Nashville (catch up with Primetime on Demand), Glee and American Idol (which air tonight on Fox).

Whatever you do (or watch), Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy celebrating all the loves in your life!

What are you doing to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
