Each year, talented seniors over 55 years young take the stage during the Bright Stars Senior Talent Shows to entertain and help raise money for senior charities throughout the Tampa Bay area.  Over $10,000 was collected at the regional shows this year and donated to the following Tampa Bay nonprofit organizations serving the senior community:

The top three acts from each of this year’s four regional talent shows took the stage on Monday, April 1 at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater to compete for the title of Bright Stars Senior IDOL.

Virginia Johnson, Entertainment Host and Reporter for On the Town for Bay News 9 and Tampa Bay On Demand, was this year’s Celebrity Hostess and Emcee.

Christine Joyce was named the 2013 Bright Stars Senior IDOL!

Congratulations to Christine Joyce, who was chosen by audience vote as the 2013 Bright Stars Senior IDOL!

Christine performed beautiful renditions of “Delilah” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”  A native of the UK, Christine spoke of her excitement and appreciation to be a part of the Senior IDOL family, and what a thrill it was to finally check this off her bucket list, the performance of a lifetime!

As Senior IDOL, Christine received $500 and an additional $500 to donate to the charity of her choice.  Christine chose Pet Pal Animal Shelter to be the nonprofit beneficiary; Pet Pals is a no kill, nonprofit animal shelter in St. Petersburg, Florida.
