Bright House Networks has been named the official provider of video, high speed data and wireline voice services for convention attendees and media covering the event in Tampa August 27 – 29.  Bright House Networks will offer a broad range of video and communications options, including dedicated access Internet services that will be scalable from ten megabits per second (Mbps) to one gigabit per second (Gbps) and metro Ethernet.

For several months now, Bright House Networks has continued to make upgrades to its network throughout Tampa with significant investment in equipment, infrastructure and local employee efforts. Specifically, more than 190 miles of single strands of fiber have been added to our already dense downtown fiber footprint. We’ve added more than 48 miles of indoor data cabling at the forum and convention center alone! Yes, I guess you could say we’re pretty excited.

The aggregate data capacity of Bright House’s network at the convention center is at about 60 BILLION bits of data a second!

That translates to…

• A quarter million routine e-mail messages a second…
• Or 37.5 million tweets could be sent per second on the network…
• An entire HD movie could be transmitted in about ½ a second…
• More than 660 million songs could be downloaded over the course of the four-day convention.

And this network would support Internet traffic for up to 210,000 connected computers.

Additionally, Bright House Networks phone service capacity will be enormous for the 50 thousand convention attendees and visiting media who will have access to thousands of telephone lines through our Business Solutions services.

So it’s no secret that the Republican National Convention will be one of the most watched and talked about events in our country’s history. No matter how you vote in November, this is an awesome moment for Bright House Networks to provide the best communications services to the delegates and members of the media as they share and report the events of the convention to the world.
