This year, Bright House Networks sponsored the student t-shirts for Rafer Johnson Day. This annual event gathers students who are severely disabled and autistic from around the Bakersfield City school district and provides them with the opportunity to participate in various track and field events. Students parade in to cheering fans and are awarded ribbons for their participation.
We received a note from Jo who is a Bright House Networks employee and also the grandmother of one of the students who participated in the special day.
I received a call from my daughter today relaying a message from my granddaughter Liyah (my Lilibug) saying thank you for the t-shirt. My granddaughter is participating in the Rafer Johnson Special Olympics and I know that when she put her t-shirt on and saw that it was from her Grammy’s job she was just as excited as being at the Special Olympics.
You may not know this but my granddaughter has cerebral palsy and is in a special education class for her special needs. She is a ray of sunshine in my life. I’ve included a photo of her beautiful smile so you can associate her face with her.
Thank you,
Jo
This year more than 30 classes and nearly 500 students participated in Rafer Johnson Day. Because of Liyah and hundreds of other children, we are honored to be a part of the annual event in partnership with the Bakersfield City school district.
